Local automakers have been observing plant shutdowns ever since the beginning of this fiscal year, however Pak Suzuki was saved from the situation despite a horrific slowdown in sales.

Now the company has announced to observe 3 non production days (NPD) in February according to a letter sent to Pakistan Stock Exchange. The plant will remain closed on 3rd, 4th and 10th of February. Pak Suzuki has already observed 4 NPDs in January 2020, this will bring the total number of non production days to 7 within two months.
Sparing the hot selling Alto 660cc, Pak Suzuki has been suffering from a horrible 62% decline in sales. In terms of individual numbers, Wagon R is the worst affected with a 72% drop in sales having sold 4,546 units in the first 6 months of FY2019-20 compared to 16,081 units sold in the same period a year earlier.

Suzuki Bolan saw a 66% decline in sales, followed by Swift which declined by 55%, Ravi by 50% whereas sales of Cultus were reduced by 39%. Reportedly the company has a large number of piled up unsold inventory at its disposal due to which its assembly operations are being affected.
