Al-Haj has finally launched the much-awaited Proton Saga in Pakistan and it does become the cheapest sedan available in the market. Available in 3 variants, the Proton Saga is priced as:
- Standard MT: 1,975,000
- Standard AT: 2,125, 000
- Ace AT: 2,225,000
Under the hood, the Proton Saga gets a 1299cc engine specifically downsized for Pakistani market to help gain tax benefits. The engine is capable to deliver 95hp of power and 120Nm of torque with power sent to the front wheels via 5-speed manual transmission in base model, while the higher variants come with a 4-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.
However, in terms of equipment the list of features in the standard versions are scarce with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reversing sensors and basic audio unit. The flagship Ace variant comes rich in features & equipment with LED DRLs, multi-function steering wheel, luggage lamp, 7-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, 15-inch alloys, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-hold assist, front & rear parking sensors, reversing camera, enhanced seat upholstery and N95 cabin filter, to name a few in addition to the features offered with the base variants.
Backed by 5-years/ 150,000km company warranty, Proton Saga in Pakistan will compete against the likes of newly launched Changan Alsvin as well as the Honda City and Toyota Yaris in the subcompact sedan segment. What is your opinion regarding the price of Proton Saga, let us know with your comments.
