The second-generation Mirai Fuel Cell EV (FCEV) showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 debuted in 2020. Corolla Flex Fuel
12th gen Corolla Flex Fuel
The left-hand drive Corolla flex-fuel hybrid was first displayed in India in October 2022. Thanks to enhancements like a gasoline composition sensor and proper ECU programming, the engine is able to run on fuel blended with a higher percentage of ethanol, reducing the consumption of gasoline, along with a hybrid powertrain. In Brazil, the Corolla Flex-fuel is already being sold, having a 102 hp 1.8-liter engine and a 72-horsepower electric motor.

The Corolla Cross H2 Concept contains an internal combustion engine that burns hydrogen, in contrast to the Mirai, which is an electrical automobile powered by hydrogen. The engine is a high-pressure hydrogen direct injection 1.6-liter turbo motor from Toyota’s motorsport vehicles that comes from the GR Corolla. According to Toyota, the advantage of hydrogen-powered engines is their capacity to refill rapidly and their decreased requirement for lithium and nickel.
