Vietnamese automaker VinFast has unveiled its first series of new right-hand drive electric vehicles at the 2024 Indonesian International Motor Show (IIMS), marking its debut on the Indonesian market.

VinFast has unveiled a diverse array of EV models which includes the VF5, VF e34, VF6, VF7, VF8, and VF 9. This range, which corresponds to A-segment through C-segment, is intended to accommodate a wide range of automobiles. VinFast says its main concept, “Living Unbound,” aims to inspire Indonesian customers to visualize the limitless possibilities of a modern and environmentally conscious transportation landscape while providing a wider range of sustainable transportation alternatives.
Furthermore, in a bid to ensure convenient charging infrastructure, VinFast will collaborate with local partners to establish a nationwide charging network. According to the automaker, this ambitious initiative is poised to facilitate seamless electric mobility for Indonesian customers, significantly propelling the adoption of sustainable transportation solutions in the market. VinFast Indonesia CEO Tran Quoc Huy expressed his enthusiasm during the event, stating:
“VinFast is proud to participate in IIMS 2024 and introduce smart, eco-friendly vehicles, empowering Indonesian consumers with diverse choices for sustainable mobility. We’re confident that VinFast’s comprehensive electric mobility platform will make electric vehicles more accessible to everyone, serving as a catalyst for the country’s transition to clean energy.”
VinFast previously announced to establish a local EV manufacturing plant in Indonesia, which will boast an anticipated capacity of 50,000 units per year. This planned facility is expected to generate thousands of employment opportunities and foster the growth of a robust domestic EV industry. Once operational, the plant will serve as a pivotal component in VinFast’s global EV supply chain.
It is also worth noting that on the opening day of IIMS 2024, VinFast’s booth was visited by Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, who left his mark by autographing the VinFast VF 5 displayed in the company’s pavilion.
This official launch in the Indonesian market marks a significant milestone in VinFast’s global expansion journey, highlighting its commitment to promoting sustainable transportation on both local and global scales.
