Xiaomi-backed startup called Tianjin Gongjiangpai Auto Technology has officially unveiled the SC-01 electric roadster. The EV first appeared in September of last year, when its CEO announced that the production version would arrive in 2023, and here it is.
The brand’s Chinese name is XiaoPaoChe (小跑车), which translates as Small Sports Car (SSC). According to CarNewsChina, the founder of the startup, Feng Xiaotong has been operating a YouTube channel called China Car Custom since 2018. Xiaomi invested tens of millions of yuan in the startup. Moreover, Liu Dezheng, Xiaomi co-founder, serves as one of the directors of this company.
SSC SC-01 is a compact, two-door roadster that looks like a typical sports car. It has angular headlamps, angled C-pillars, and circular taillights. It has a space frame that is made of three-dimensional steel tubes. The SC-01 measures 4,105/1,830/1,160 mm with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm making it roughly similar to Audi TT in terms of dimensions.

The SSC SC-01’s interior features a sizable LCD instrument panel and a flat-bottomed, three-spoke sports steering wheel. This roadster’s center tunnel is without an armrest. Instead, it has a power window switch and a rotary gear selector. The SC-01 includes a row of physical controls for the A/C, front wiper, V2L system, etc. mounted on the ceiling. There is no center screen on the SC-01. It does, however, have racing bucket seats.
It has a dual motor setup, the front and rear electric motors can generate 218 hp (160 kW) and 280 Nm resulting in a combined output of 429 hp (320 kW). The battery is ternary (NMC) with a capacity of 60 kWh, which can be replenished from 30% to 80% in 25 minutes. According to SSC, it can drive for 520 km on a single charge. The car’s curb weight is only 1,370 kg which is one of the contributing factors that help SC-01 accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

It has aluminum steering knuckles. The front axle of the SC-01 has 6-piston brake calipers, and the rear axle has 4-piston brakes. With them are 350-mm disc brakes. SSC claims that their braking system is superior to the one in the Porsche 911 GT3. Additionally, the SC-01 includes horizontal pushrod shock absorbers. They offer excellent handling when paired with Michelin Pilot Sport CUP2 245/40 ZR18 tires.
The company hasn’t revealed the price yet however according to Chinese motoring media it will likely fall around the 300,000 yuan range ($41,300). The SC-01 recently passed the hot-weather tests in China’s Flaming Mountains. This latest electric sports car will go on sale in 2024.
