SSC SC-01 is a compact, two-door roadster that looks like a typical sports car. It has angular headlamps, angled C-pillars, and circular taillights. It has a space frame that is made of three-dimensional steel tubes. The SC-01 measures 4,105/1,830/1,160 mm with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm making it roughly similar to Audi TT in terms of dimensions.
The SSC SC-01’s interior features a sizable LCD instrument panel and a flat-bottomed, three-spoke sports steering wheel. This roadster’s center tunnel is without an armrest. Instead, it has a power window switch and a rotary gear selector. The SC-01 includes a row of physical controls for the A/C, front wiper, V2L system, etc. mounted on the ceiling. There is no center screen on the SC-01. It does, however, have racing bucket seats.
It has a dual motor setup, the front and rear electric motors can generate 218 hp (160 kW) and 280 Nm resulting in a combined output of 429 hp (320 kW). The battery is ternary (NMC) with a capacity of 60 kWh, which can be replenished from 30% to 80% in 25 minutes. According to SSC, it can drive for 520 km on a single charge. The car’s curb weight is only 1,370 kg which is one of the contributing factors that help SC-01 accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
It has aluminum steering knuckles. The front axle of the SC-01 has 6-piston brake calipers, and the rear axle has 4-piston brakes. With them are 350-mm disc brakes. SSC claims that their braking system is superior to the one in the Porsche 911 GT3. Additionally, the SC-01 includes horizontal pushrod shock absorbers. They offer excellent handling when paired with Michelin Pilot Sport CUP2 245/40 ZR18 tires.
The company hasn’t revealed the price yet however according to Chinese motoring media it will likely fall around the 300,000 yuan range ($41,300). The SC-01 recently passed the hot-weather tests in China’s Flaming Mountains. This latest electric sports car will go on sale in 2024.
