Xiaomi SU7 Inspires Budget-Friendly LSEV aka Redmi SU7

Xiaomi SU7 debuted in March, and the company’s CEO has announced that they plan to deliver 100,000 vehicles by November, exceeding the original target and aiming for further expansion. Along with this, the new submodel, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, has been introduced, boasting 1,526 horsepower and priced at 800,000 yuan (approximately PKR 43,710,000), which may sound out of reach for many people.

However, in China, affordable products are always available, including electric vehicles in the Low-Speed Electric Vehicles (LSEVs) segment. These small electric vehicles come with limited power and speed, are suitable for short-distance urban use, and are popular due to their affordable prices & their smaller dimensions which provide ease of maneuvering and parking. In most cases, LSEVs don’t even need to have a license plate. They often take design inspiration from high-end models, allowing customers to own them for around 30,000 yuan (approximately PKR 1,641,000).

The Xiaomi SU7 has also become an inspiration for the LSEVs model Yunlei EV from Gaotang County, the images of which recently surfaced on the internet. It fully adopts design cues from both the front and rear, including the lines on various parts and the shape of the headlights and taillights. The size has been reduced to fit the smaller EV, and even Xiaomi’s signature Blue Ray color has been borrowed.

Amusingly they have fit the design elements of the SU7 which is a sedan to this small LSEV which is a hatchback. While there is no information on the powertrain, due to its resemblance, netizens have nicknamed it the Redmi SU7, referring to Xiaomi’s low-cost smartphone series.

This isn’t the first time the design of a popular model has been imitated into an LSEV. These LSEVs in China, produced by smaller manufacturers, frequently draw design inspiration from well-known cars, including high-performance models like the Lamborghini Aventador, Bugatti Chiron, and Ferrari Enzo.
