11th gen Honda Accord Unveiled

Honda has finally pulled the wraps off the 11th-generation Accord. The latest D-segment sedan is touted as the sleekest and the best-looking Honda Accord ever produced in recent years as its sharper, more modern, and better proportioned than before.

The fascia is adorned with a hexagonal-shaped grille that replaces the thick Solid Wing chrome bar and slats found on the outgoing model. The grille gets triangular inserts, while the slim headlights get eyebrow like LED DRL signatures. The rear end features the two-piece, full-width taillights  separated by a Honda logo at the center of the boot lid.

In terms of dimensions, the 11th gen Accord measures 4,971 mm in length, 1,862 mm in width and 1,450 mm in height while having a wheelbase of 2,830 mm. Compared to the outgoing model, the new Accord is 91 mm longer and 2 mm wider than before however the wheelbase remains unchanged.

The new Honda Accord comes in 6 trim variants across two powertrain options; a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 2.0L hybrid. The 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine produces 192 hp and 260 Nm and comes paired to a CVT gearbox. The hybrid features a 2.0L Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder petrol engine that is rated to produce 204 hp of power and 335 Nm of torque.

Similar to the new Civic and CR-V, the 11th gen Accord gets piano-black trim and a mesh cover for the air vents which spans the width of the dashboard. A 7.0-inch touchscreen with volume and tuning knobs comes standard in the regular trims, and a considerably larger 12.3-inch screen is offered in the hybrid models. Wireless smartphone mirroring is offered only with the bigger screen, but a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster is standard across the lineup.

Honda claims a class-leading passenger space of 2,993 liters including 1,036 mm of rear legroom, while the luggage compartment holds 473 liters. For the US market, the 1.5L Turbo is offered in LX and EX trim variants, while the Hybrid gets Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Touring variants.

In terms of safety, the Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance technologies has been updated, and new for the 2023 Accord is Traffic Jam Assist, an Accord first. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow, and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS) have been updated for more natural responses, while Traffic Sign Recognition is standard across the range and Low-Speed Braking Control is available on the Touring variant.

Prices are yet to be disclosed but are expected to be revealed before the 11th gen Honda Accord goes on sale in the North American markets during the beginning months of 2023.
