On 14th January 2023, a ship loaded with 800 more BYD Atto 3 crossovers departed from Shanghai Port and headed to Thailand. This marks a cumulative volume of over 10,000 Atto 3s so far shipped to the Thai market since the electric crossover was launched in Thailand in October 2022.
Upon launch, the BYD Atto 3 received an overwhelming response in Thailand. So much so that long queues started forming outside BYD dealerships a day before the bookings were supposed to kick off. Customers were seen queued outside various BYD dealerships across Thailand awake all night just to get their hands on the Atto 3 EV.

Notably, it took BYD only 42 days to receive 10,305 Atto 3 orders from the Thai market, indicating a warm welcome from local consumers over BYD’s first product in Thailand.
Furthermore, the Atto 3 has breached the 1,000 orders milestone within just 10 days of its launch in Malaysia, and the situation isn’t too different in India where the electric vehicle was launched in the mid of November 2022. In just one month, the BYD Atto 3 garnered over 1,500 bookings in India where customers, like any other market, are super-keen to get their hands on the popular Chinese EV.
BYD sold 1,863,494 NEVs through 2022, representing a 208.64% year-on-year surge. As BYD’s first passenger vehicle model targeting the global market, the Atto 3 recorded an export volume of 40,014 units last year. The Atto 3, which was launched in several key markets in the year 2022 including Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Columbia, New Zealand, Cambodia, Nepal, Vietnam, Brazil, and Israel as well as some European markets, was BYD’s best performer in terms of sales. The Atto 3 was formally launched in February of 2022 and saw 229,020 units (including domestic market sales) by the end of December 2022 (11 months only). That’s 25% of all battery-electric vehicles sold by BYD last year.
