Changan unveiled the stunning UNI-V sedan in November 2021. The vehicle went on sale in Chinese market in February 2022 packed with 1.5L four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine churning out 188hp of power and 300Nm of torque.

Now Changan is aiming to take the success of UNI-V a step further by unveiling 2 new variants at the 2022 Chongqing Auto Show, one being the iDD hybrid and the other a more powerful 2.0T version. Visually both the versions remain very much similar to the regular UNI-V however there are some minor design differences, such as a borderless grille design for the iDD hybrid, but the 2.0T variant gets an air intake above the grille. Towards the back, nothing seems to be changed, however the iDD hybrid variant is given a single exhaust layout.
Inside, the interior is again very much similar to the regular variants with 3 screens in front of the driver, and a larger center control screen is in the middle. There are some minor differences for example, blue accents along with light grey addons for the iDD version whereas the 2.0T gets dark grey with orange stitching rendering a more sportier ambience.
Changan UNI-V 2.0T and iDD Hybrid
Under the hood the UNI-V 2.0T variant comes equipped with the latest BlueWhale 2.0L turbocharged engine making 232hp of power and a staggering 390Nm of torque. The engine comes paired to an 8-speed automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters as compared to the 7-speed in the other two variants.

On the other hand, the UNI-V iDD version is a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5L turbo engine that can generate 125kW of power. The BlueWhale iDD hybrid system adds a power boost to the vehicle allowing it to reach from 0-100km/h in just under 6 seconds while the top speed exceeds 220 km/h. A 18.4kWh large-capacity LFP battery allows a pure electric range of 100 km while the fuel consumption is a surprisingly low 1.59L/100km (62km/l). Users can select between three drive modes according to their preferences. These are EV mode, HEV mode, and Super Race mode.
Price of Changan UNI-V 2.0T starts from 129,900 yuan (PKR 39.30 lac) and goes as high as 139,900 yuan (PKR 42.33 lac). The price of iDD hybrid is yet to be disclosed.
