The sporty-looking four-door sedan is basically a rebadged version of the Chery Arrizo 5 GT that debuted in China last year, sharing the same Lexus-inspired fascia and a turbocharged petrol engine. The new sedan is 4,691 mm long, 1,814 mm wide, and 1,493 mm tall with a wheelbase spanning 2,650 mm.
The design highlights include a massive X-shaped “spindle” grille up front that covers most of the front bumper, slim LED headlights, and vertical intakes on the bumper. Inside, the Omoda O5 GT features dual 10.25-inch screens in a unified panel, the dashboard features fake carbon fiber trim, there are bucket seats with red piping on the black leather-style upholstery (also available in lava red), and aluminum pedals. The high-spec trim gets heated and ventilated seats, and ADAS features including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, lane change assist, and blind spot monitoring.
Under the hood is a turbocharged 1.6L engine making a potent 194 hp and 290 Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, allowing a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6 seconds. Bear in mind the regular O5 comes fitted with a 1.5L engine good for 146 hp and 169 Nm and is mated to a CVT gearbox.
