DFSK (Dongfeng-Sokon) comes under the umbrella of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, the state-owned auto giant considered as one of the “Big Three” Chinese automakers. According to our information the Glory 580 SUV was built by close collaboration of Dongfeng and Honda, since Honda happens to be a joint-venture partner of Dongfeng in China. Dongfeng also assembles the CR-V in China and the Glory 580 has close connections with the 4th gen CR-V, as its just 90mm longer in dimensions and has a similar engine (although less powerful) than its Honda cousin.

The local assembled Glory 580 is a welcome addition in our market and is considered among the blessings of the Auto Policy 2016-21. With its price and features offered, it surely seems to be an attractive option, and will likely get consumer attention. The Glory 580 does reasonably well in other regional markets too, whether people will prefer this 7-seat SUV over the likes of 5-seat options such as Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson or the Civic Turbo, we will have to wait to find out.
