GAC Emkoo, the newest compact SUV from GAC, made its Philippine debut at the ongoing 2023 Manila International Auto Show. The cutting-edge 5-seater has taken center stage, and along with its other stablemates, has pulled the crowds, drawn their attention, and flaunted all it has to offer.
The Emkoo is billed as the embodiment of the brand’s bold and futuristic new look for its global SUVs, underpinned by GAC’s Global Platform Modular Architecture and distinguished by the brand’s pioneering styling, intelligent driving technologies, and high-efficiency drivetrains.

The exterior has a borderless V-shaped grill, which is skillfully highlighted by the slim LED headlamps and DRL assembly. The low-nose and high-tail design, as well as the chrome and black trims, the hidden door handles that reveal themselves when you activate them, and the swooping diagonal angle that cuts across the passenger doors all contribute to the vehicle’s futuristic appearance. Additional details include 19-inch multi-spoke wheels, a high-level brake light with a distinctive shape, V-shaped formation tail lights, dual vertical dual exhaust pipes, and other features.
The GAC Emkoo’s cabin features sophisticated materials and integrated intelligent technologies. The upholstery and trim items of choice are expertly produced with hand-sewn leather seats and premium finishes on the panels. A four-way adjustable multi-function steering wheel, a 10.1-inch multifunctional touchscreen with Apple CarPlay integration, speed-based volume control, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a keyless start button, power settings and ventilation for the front row seats, automatic air conditioning with second-row vents, and configurable ambient lighting are also included.
In terms of safety, the Emkoo comes with a slew of features such as dual front and side curtain airbags, an Electronic Stability Program, Hill Start Hold, Hill Descent controls, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. It also comes with rear parking sensors and a 360-degree surround-view camera system, a host of Advanced Driving Assist Systems (ADAS) including Adaptive Cruise Control with Integrated Cruise Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist.

Under the hood, there is a 1.5L GDI turbo petrol engine in tunes of 177 hp of power and 270 Nm of torque mated to a quick-shifting, 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox. There are two variants available for the Philippines market. The base GE will retail for PHP 1,413,000 while the higher-specified GL will cost PHP 1,553,000.
GAC already has the GS3, GS4, and GS8 SUVs on sale in the Philippines alongside GN6 MPV and the Empow sports sedan which are now joined by the new Emkoo.
