Hyundai Unveils the New Sonata

Following a series of spy shots and speculative renderings, Hyundai has now released the first official images of the new 2024 Sonata. The new look brings the Sonata in line with Hyundai’s other recent redesigns such as the new Kona crossover, the Staria van, the Grandeur saloon, Stargazer MPV, and the refreshed Verna sedan.

The grille and headlights have been modified, and the full-width LED light strip running across the front is immediately evident. The bottom fascia is now more angular than before, while the taillights feature a similar light strip. Hyundai displayed the regular model as well as the sportier N Line variant, both featuring new wheel designs.

The two huge 12.3-inch panels that are now integrated into a single curved display binnacle are the focal point of the interior improvements. The layout of some dashboard elements, including the climate controls, has also changed, and the materials seem to have improved from the previous version. In order to make room in the center console, the gearshift is moved closer to the steering column, while the steering wheel is likewise new.

Although Hyundai hasn’t yet revealed any engine upgrades, the available powertrains are probably staying the same. Currently available engines include a 2.0L and 2.5L naturally aspirated, a 1.6L turbocharged, a 2.5L turbocharged for the N Line, and a hybrid system. The South Korean automaker will reveal more details about the new Sonata pretty soon, as the vehicle is expected to become available within the next few months starting from the North American markets.
