Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) has reduced the price of Peugeot 2008 crossover which was launched over 6 months ago and hasn’t been able to pick up sales.

In order to boost sales, the company has now slashed the price of Peugeot 2008 by Rs 251,000 but the reduction is only applicable on the base Active variant. The revised price of Peugeot 2008 Active variant is now Rs 4,999,000 instead of Rs 5,250,000, however the price of flagship Allure variant remains unchanged at Rs 5,850,000. According to notification the price has been reduced for a limited time only.
What’s even more interesting is the delivery time. The Peugeot 2008 is available for ‘ready delivery’ without any waiting time whatsoever. Obviously LMC has made plenty of these during the last 6 months or so, most of which have been standing idle waiting for the buyers to pick them up.

LMC began rolling off the Peugeot 2008 crossover in December 2021 in the same facility in Karachi where it assembles other Kia cars locally. The vehicle was launched in January & was open for booking with 2 variants available– Active and Allure, priced at PKR 52.5 lac and PKR 58.5 lac respectively. The Peugeot 2008 was put on display at 8 Peugeot 3S dealerships in 6 cities across Pakistan.
A couple of months later, the company organized a huge event at its plant in Karachi where a large number of media representatives, dealers and other key personalities were invited. A test-drive experience was also provided on the same track where local assembled Kia vehicles are tested. Some say the marketing exercise was organized a couple of months after launch, since Peugeot wasn’t able to receive the sort of attention LMC was anticipating.

Now even after more than 6 months, the Premium European crossover as they call it, hasn’t been able to fare well in the market. Whether the price reduction of base variant will bring favorable results for LMC, we will have to wait to find out.
