Remember Rinco Aria? The so-called ‘Made in USA’ electric mini (as claimed by the company) which was introduced in Pakistan earlier this year by Nayyar Motors. We busted the myth about it being American in our earlier post, since the Aria is nothing but a generic EV originating from China and is available for sale on Alibaba.com.

Now the mini electric vehicle has been launched in Thailand labeled as Volt City EV and is distributed by a company called EV Primus. As said earlier, you can order this EV too, and will get a discounted price depending on how large the order is. And for an order of minimum 50 units you will get a customized logo too, the reason why the Rinco Aria adorns a different logo than the one shown on the sample unit at Alibaba website. And thus the Volt City EV wears a different logo too.
Interestingly, the Thai company makes no mention of it being ‘Made in USA’ instead it says the EV was developed by three leading Chinese companies including DongFeng Motor, Zhengzhou Nissan and Beijing Hongrui Automotive Technology. The City EV comes in 4 variants, two 2-door and two 4-door versions, and is backed by 3 years or 80,000 km company warranty. The top variant comes with Premium Deal program including:
- 5 years or 120,000 km vehicle warranty
- Free maintenance at service center for 2 years
- Emergency assistance packages and on-site emergency charging
- First class insurance for 1 year
- 20,000 baht discount for Wallbox E-Volt charging box
The 2-door models are powered by a 30 KW permanent magnet synchronous motor that is mounted on the rear suspension. It produces maximum power of 41 hp and peak torque of 90 Nm. There is a 11.8 kWh lithium phosphate battery that propels the rear-wheels, and take 5.5 to 6 hours to fully charge. The company claims running distance of 165 kilometers in a complete charge, with a top speed of 105 km/h for these variants.

The 4-door models get a 34 KW permanent magnet synchronous motor with maximum power of 46 hp and peak torque of 102 Nm, while having a lithium phosphate battery of 16.5 kWh that requires up to 6 hours to fully charge. Running distance for these variants is up to 200 km whereas top speed remains same at 105 km/h.
Interior & safety features of Volt City EV
The interior in terms of design is pretty much same as we get with the Aria here, however the City EV in Thailand gets a multi-function steering wheel and multiple interior color options. And the City EV takes the lead in safety aspects as it gets dual airbags, collision warning system while driving at low speeds, reversing sensors, 3-point ELR seat belts for all seats, ABS brakes with EBD, TPMS, emergency kit and warning light if door is not completely closed etc.
The Volt City EV in Thailand is priced as:
