Suzuki Celerio Achieves 7 Lac Unit Sales Milestone in India

Maruti Suzuki Celerio has achieved new recognition by crossing the 7 lac unit sales milestone in India since its launch in 2014. Currently, in its second generation, the entry-level hatchback bears a starting price of INR 5.36 lac (ex-showroom) in the Indian market.

It comes equipped with a 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine that is paired with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox option. The engine is BS6 Phase 2.0-compliant and is tuned to produce 66hp of power and 89Nm of peak torque. Customers can also opt for the CNG version of the Celerio which is available with a manual gearbox only.

Known among the most fuel-efficient cars in India, the second-generation Celerio made its debut in November 2021. Prior to this, the first-gen model, which made its debut in 2014, received a mild facelift in 2017 and was eventually phased out a little over three years later.

The Celerio boasts a fuel efficiency figure of 26.68km/l in its class (VXi AMT variant). The ZXi and ZXi+ AMT deliver 26km/l, LXi returns 25.24km/l and the VXi, ZXi, and ZXI+ MT give 24.97km/l. These fuel economy figures have been verified by ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India).

In terms of features, the Suzuki Celerio gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start/stop, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors, key-less entry, voice recognition, auto up/down driver’s window, steering-mounted controls, 60:40 rear split seats and more. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, rear parking sensors, speed-sensitive door lock, and hill hold assist for the automatic variants.
