Chery Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro Launched in Indonesia

Chery has launched Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro crossover SUVs in Indonesia. The Chinese automaker is speeding up its penetration in the ASEAN region with a Malaysian debut likely to follow soon.

The Tiggo 7 Pro is available in four variants starting with the Comfort priced at Rp368.5 juta (PKR 52.38 lac), then comes the Luxury variant at Rp398.5 juta (PKR 56.37 lac), the Premium at Rp428.5 juta (PKR 60.86 lac) and the Tiggo 7 Pro Premium Two-Tone at Rp433.5 juta (PKR 61.36 lac). The 5-seater SUV is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine good for 155 hp and 230 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox with 9-virtual ratios.

Exterior highlights include LED automatic headlights with DRLs, keyless entry with remote start, follow-me-home lights, reversing camera, LED tail lamps, front and rear fog lamps, and a roof rack. The powered tailgate is only available in the Premium variant. The base variant gets 17-inch wheels whereas the rest of the variants get 18-inchers.

Standard features include an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, a 7-inch LCD meter cluster, a 10-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, an 8-inch dual-zone air-conditioning display and three USB ports. Higher variants get features such as powered front seats, 6 speakers instead of four, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, and the Intelligent Voice Assistant.

Advance Driving Assistant features in Tiggo 7 Pro are only available in the Premium variant. This includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, front collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, 360-degree view monitor, lane departure warning, blind spot monitor, and reverse tendency alert which works like rear-cross traffic alert. Only the Premium variant gets 6 airbags while the rest of the variants get 4.

On the other hand, the flagship Tiggo 8 Pro comes available in two variants– Luxury starting from Rp518.5 juta (PKR 73.33 lac) and the Premium from Rp548.5 juta (PKR 77.82 lac). The 7-seater SUV is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four cylinder direct-injection petrol engine good for 250 hp and 390 Nm and sends drive to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In Pakistan, the Tiggo 8 Pro comes with 1.6TGDl engine paired to the same 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Both the Luxury and Premium variants include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED automatic headlights with DRLs, LED tail lamps, hands-free powered tailgate and key-less entry with remote engine start. On the inside, the more expensive Premium variant gets 4-way powered adjustments for the front passenger, seat memory function for the driver and a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade.

Both Tiggo 8 Pro variants in Indonesia get Intelligent Voice Assistant feature, 6-way powered driver seats, a rear view camera display, illuminated door sills, ambient lighting, dual-zone air-conditioning, a wireless charger, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three USB ports, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment display, 8 speakers, 8-inch LCD air-conditioning panel and refrigerated armrest storage.

For safety, both variants of the Tiggo 8 Pro come with 6 airbags, hill-start assist and hill descent control. However, only the Premium variant gets the Advanced Driving Assistant system with features such as intelligent high-beam control and traffic sign recognition along with lane departure warning, blind spot detection, rear-cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow and autonomous emergency braking. Both vehicles are backed by Chery’s 6 years/ 150,000 km warranty.
