Do keep in mind the Marvel R was among the batch of vehicles that were imported by the company for trials and tests. The CBU units include the MG6 sedan, MG5 sedan, MG RX8 SUV and two electric vehicles including the MG E-HS and of course the Marvel R electric SUV.

The MG Marvel R is a further developed version of SAIC’s (MG’s parent company) Roewe Marvel X featuring a thoroughly revised fascia. The SUV was developed together with Huawei and is the first mass-produced vehicle for which 5G mobile technology is available (in the Pro equipment line). In addition, the vehicle can exchange data with its surroundings via cellular network and WLAN ( Car2x technology).
The Marvel R is available in rear-wheel drive & all-wheel drive configurations depending on the variant. The rear-wheel drive version has two electric motors mounted on the rear axle, the maximum power is specified as 137 kW (186 hp). The all-wheel drive version has a third electric motor on the front axle which increases the output to 222 kW (302 hp). The SUV’s lithium-ion battery has an energy content of 69.9 kWh while the drive range in a complete charge according to the NEDC is 505 km for the rear-wheel drive version and 460 km for the all-wheel drive version. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint time is just 4.9 seconds and top speed of 200 km/h.
The MG Marvel R features a sizeable frunk, 19.4 inch portrait touch screen, panoramic sunroof, leather interior, an array of active & passive safety equipment & driver assistance technologies.
In order to cash in the benefits of electric vehicles in the new auto policy, MG has imported the E-HS electric crossover and Marvel R electric SUV and plans to introduce various other EVs down the line in Pakistan. MG currently has the ZS-EV in its local portfolio the price of which was slashed from Rs 6,850,000 to Rs 6,250,000 rendering a benefit of Rs 6 lacs, all thanks to the new auto policy which offers:
- Removal of Additional Customs Duty and AST on import of electric vehicles
- Just 1% tax on import of EV parts for local manufacturers
- No Registration and annual renewal fee for EVs in Islamabad
- 1% sales tax for local made EVs up to 50kwh and light commercial vehicles up to 150 kwh.
- Only 1% Duty on import of charging equipment
- No Federal Excise Duty (FED) on Electric Vehicles
- Duty free import of plant and machinery for manufacturing of EVs
However, if introduced the price of MG Marvel R is definitely going to be on a higher side compared to the ZS-EV which happens to be among the least expensive EVs in MG’s global lineup. What do you think will be ideal price of MG Marvel R in Pakistan, let us know with your comments.
