Toyota is on the verge of introducing the latest generation D92A Yaris sedan which will replace the existing XP150 series model which has been around for nearly a decade. The X150 Yaris sedan is also marketed as Vios in various markets. Keep in mind this is different than the TNGA-based 4th gen Yaris hot hatch which was revealed a couple of years ago.

Camouflaged test mules have already been spotted multiple times in Thailand, which will be the first market to welcome the new model. As per reports, the debut is expected somewhere around August 2022. As we are nearing the formal unveiling, the excitement for the new model is already on the rise since the Yaris/ Vios is considered a popular model in ASEAN region. Now based on the design cues from the test mules, Paultan has shared speculative renderings (by Theophilus Chin) of the upcoming D92A Yaris/ Vios which gives us a good idea of how the new model will look like.
Speculative Renderings of next-gen Toyota Yaris/ Vios
Overall the design is much sharper and sophisticated than the model currently on sale. Based on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) modular platform, the new D92A Yaris will also be bigger in dimensions than the current XP150 model. As per rendering, the front features slim LED headlamps above which there is a full-width thin chrome strip divided only by the Toyota emblem in between. The bumper gets inverted trapezoidal grill flanked by vertical vents on either end. The rear also gets slim full width tail lights & embedded spoiler while the bumper gets vertical vents on extreme ends mimicking those at the front plus having a diffuser-like element in the center of lower section.

Reportedly, the D92A Yaris/ Vios will come with two engine options in Thailand. There will be a 1.2L naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine to comply with Thailand’s Eco Car regulations as well as a new 1.5L hybrid, which might be the same unit deployed in the latest Toyota Aqua hybrid in Japan. The hybrid version will help Toyota compete the new Yaris/ Vios against the new Honda City e:HEV hybrid.
